As it happens, real life can sometimes be a b$#@h.
Just after completing the Day 1 entry, I started experiencing some serious computer problems. Surf for blog to post on? No way, I can’t even open two windows at the same time without everything grinding to a halt.
I struggled all day, all night and into the next day and have been unable to solve my problem.
So, I will be rebuilding my machine from the ground up this weekend. FDisking, installing all software again, getting my settings just right, you know… all that stuff you do when you get a new computer.
Only, mine isn’t new. In fact, it’s three years old! Perhaps it’s time to replace it?
As a computer programmer, I was going through machines about once a year; a good computer would last 18 months before being replaced, until I got my Dell XPS. Cutting edge at the time I got it three years ago, it still out performs most other laptops (even the newer ones) with it’s 3.4Ghx processor.
Okay, well, it DID out perform them until this week.
So, I will try to salvage it by rebuilding it. Bill Gates probably dropped a new update on me that toasted everything. Wouldn’t be the first time. (Hey, if I have a secret admirer out there that is wealthy, here’s the laptop I want to replace mine with. It’s an HP, just ship it direct!) =)
So, I guess this case study will mimic real life after all. There are times you can’t get to what you want to, because something comes up. Well, this is one of those times.
More as soon as I am back online.
(BTW: Although I type 120 words a minute, this post took 23 minutes to post! Sheesh!)
